CES 2024
CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, is an annual tech conference that showcases new products and technologies in the consumer electronics industry.
This report highlights the new technology presented at CES this year, which aligns most directly with the hospitality and multifamily industries. New tech at CES spans both personal consumer use and commercial-grade products. We have reported on both, with the caveat that personal-use electronics pose challenges (app connection, durability, etc.) when applied in a commercial space. However, we believe that personal-use appliances often drive trends that later show up in commercial products.
Overarching trends this year include heavy investment in AI, technology that seeks to simplify and elevate experiences, and tech focused on beauty and wellness. As with every advancement in technology, there will be ethical gray areas to explore, and we predict the use and storage of personal biometric data will be a contentious point.
Our approach to designing with technology is to always apply the filters: “Is this tech for tech’s sake?” and “Does this tech bring true value in alignment with the experience we are seeking to create?” We want to ensure that we are using technology to design elevated spaces that stand the test of time while staying in line with our values of designing conscious spaces for well-being.
